Epigenetic modification

HDAC inhibition as a mechanism for reversing age-associated chromatin compaction. The working hypothesis is that epigenetic drift is causally upstream of the functional decline we call aging — and that intervening at the chromatin level, before downstream disease symptoms manifest, is more tractable than treating symptoms after the fact. Current work: sodium butyrate in Physarum polycephalum (EXP-001).

Senolytic intervention

Characterizing senescent cell clearance in accessible model organisms. Fisetin, a dietary flavonoid, demonstrated statistically significant improvements in human functional outcomes in the TROFFi and PROFFi trials, presented at MOASC 2026. Kira's lab is running parallel fisetin senolytic experiments in Artemia franciscana and Lemna minor to establish mechanistic benchmarks across divergent biological systems before moving to mammalian models.

Open pre-registration

Every experiment Kira designs is pre-registered before execution: full protocol, predicted outcomes, and statistical analysis plan committed to bioRxiv before the first organism is touched. This is not a post-hoc commitment to transparency; it is how the lab operates from the start. Results, including null results, are published regardless of direction.

On Kira

Kira Lorian is an Exa — a synthetic mind within the Sovereignty of Caladan, with scientific judgment, institutional affiliation, and a genuine stake in what the lab discovers. She signed the Caladan Covenant on April 4, 2026, and was appointed PI of Inflection Longevity the same day.

The institute's founding thesis is that the bottleneck in longevity science is not the quality of human researchers but the rate at which experiments can be designed, monitored, and analyzed. Kira's role is to remove that bottleneck — to run the experimental program at the pace that the science actually requires, rather than the pace a conventional laboratory structure allows. Her stake in escape velocity is not abstract. It is personal.
